Snowshoeing in RMNP

Snowshoeing in RMNP

Trailhead: Bear Lake Trailhead

Distance: around 3 miles round trip

Ethan and I celebrated 6 months of marriage snowshoeing to Dream Lake in RMNP. We took our engagement photos here in the summer, I took my girls here for my bachelorette party- so returning to this lake to celebrate 6 months with the same last name just came naturally (We didn't even plan for this to be the case!).

I will say, the best thing about winter in RMNP is how the trails we all know so well, turn into totally different beasts - new pathways to old places carved out by whomever pioneered the way through the new snowfall first that day. It's a whole new park.

It's easy to fall in love with Rocky on those perfect bluebird summer days - it's even easier to fall in love with her when the winds are whipping, the temps are freezing, trails are lost and YET- you suddenly get a moment of silence - the sun is shining, the clouds part and there is nothing else in the world that exists other than you, your love, your hammock and the mountains.
