Lake Haiyaha

Hike: Lake Haiyaha

Trailhead: Bear Lake Trailhead

Distance: 4 miles roundtrip

Directions from Boulder:  take HWY 36 all the way to Estes Park. Turn left onto Big Thompson Ave. Take a left onto Moraine Ave and follow this along all the way to the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance station. Once through, take the first left onto Bear Lake Road. Follow along all the way to the Bear Lake Trailhead (if full they offer shuttles a ways back down the road).

Lake Haiyaha is one of those hikes that I have been meaning to do for a long long time. I always pass the junction for it. I see all the signs telling me where to go and I never followed them. Well, I'm so glad I finally did.

Lake Haiyaha is nestled in lower chaos canyon and has boulders for a "shore". It's a wonderful place to find a rock to hang out on and eat lunch while enjoying the views of Hallet and Otis peak in the distance.

This hike also takes you right along the likes of Nymph Lake and Dream Lake, both spectacular alpine lakes in their own right that help make for another wonderful day on the trail.
